German Organ Music

The so known said that states: "Never judge a book by its cover", never ceases to amaze me. In fact this recording is one of my favorites for the organ, I can listen it again and again and never get bored. Its brillian execution by Joseph Payne, an not so known organist as it's Bolliger or Gillian Weir, but not less virtuoso at all. Virtuoso not just in the sense of having a brave technique, but to have likewise a great intuition that allows to go deeper in the scores. That is what makes the music be the music captivating by itself .

Historic Organs from 5 Centuries

Im really delighted upon posting this cd interpreted by Albert Bolliger. A man deeply fascinated by the world of organs, whose long career has given fruits all along his life and the places he is being at. 

The series "Historic Organs" unveils his true art, the ties his mind has with the organ, making up an extraordinary interpretation in all the different organs he has played, just briefed in the present disk. Just as example is the so tender interpretation of the BWV 754  "Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier" which has no paragon and that I love.

Bach Greatest Hits, Baroque Masterpieces

I think that since the beginning of this blog, I've posted works for deep connoiseurs of the baroque, works that are not always easy to digest, so, I felt like an impel to prsent some music for amateurs baroque listeners. 

The firs cd compiles some of the most famous Bach's melodies. Without going so far, it presents them in a very pleasant way to be listened, starting from two allegros of his famous concertos of Brandenburg No 2 and 3, passing through some symphonies  and the orchestral version of the so dazing "Jesu, joy of man's desiring". The other works, the selection of the main movements of the Bach's orchestral suites No 1 and 2 (BWV 1066 and 1067 respectively), and  the violin concerto BWV 1043 are being performed with mastery and profundity, caring for the subtles parts, which in baroque can mean everything.

The second cd (Baroque Masterpieces) is alike an anthology of the most excelent compositions of late baroque. Here, not all works are recueable, due to exist nowadays much better interpretations, and plus, interpreted on period instruments. But leaving aside the instrumentation issue, and if we focuse on the musicality, we'll be able to apreciate this works as landmarks of the baroque interpretations. Just to point out the works that I believe are rescuable, are: Albinoni's adagio, Bach's Oboe concerto (Do not remmember the number of the cathalog BWV), and the Corelli's concerto for grosso in G minor Op 6 for Christamas. Im sure that the other pieces will like you, I was just remarking thoso that I believe are better interpreted in comparision with much moder ones.

Pachelbel Canon - Fasch Concerto for trumpet, 2 symphonies

Probably the most known piece of Pachelbel is his canon in Re major.  The version played here is (to me) the better and the final version of it. Im sure if you suffer a wreckage and found yourself lonely in an desser Island, this is the cd you ought to have. But do not push yourself for the Pachelbel's canon, bacause all tracks are super a very delightful, specially the Pachelbel's suites and the Fasch's symphonies.

This is the kind of cd that will remain for posterity without a doubt. I imagine the sons of my sons enjoying this "piece of art".

The Ultimate Baroque collection

Baroque lovers musnt miss this cd. This was one wich I started my love into this repertoire. The magnifique performances make of this cd one of the best, just listen who are the directors and the orchestras they lead. I solisti veneti-Claudio Scimone, Orchestre de chambre Jean-François Paillard-Jean François Paillard, The English Baroque Soloist-John Eliot Gardiner and The Amsterdam Baroque orchestra-Ton Koopman.

I know that most of the pieces contained in the cd are very popular and there are hundreds of interpretations, and for sure you'll bump into some later or soon, but listen diferent versions of a same ouvre will increase our understanding and our criteria when in a future in a baroque concert we attend.
